Catching the creative bug

MORE than 25 children took advantage of a Bizarre Bugs and Fantastic Flowers workshop at Ledbury's Heritage Centre, in Church Lane.

The event is being hailed as a great success by the organisers, The Green-eyed Monster Company.

Tina Walton said: "This was the fourth workshop we've done in Ledbury, and they are always well attended."

Youngsters aged between three and 12 forgot summer holiday blues to make bugs and flowers out of natural and recycled material, under the guidance of workshop leader, Karen Meiklejohn.

The event demonstrated the enduring popularity of the Heritage Centre, which has been subject to rumours recently that it is to be sold by Herefordshire Council.

The Old Toy Museum in Church Lane, the former base of the Artistree group, has been sold recently, and contracts are in the process of being finalised between Herefordshire Council and the building's new, private owners.

But at last week's full town council meeting, the Herefordshire councillor for Ledbury, Don Rule, said the centre would not be sold and would open for another full tourist season next year.
