Presteigne savour life at top

Presteigne 2 Caersws Res 0

DESPITE the visiting keeper being in prime form, Presteigne scored a goal in each half to take the points and replace their opponents at the top of the Spar Mid-Wales League, the first time they have reached these heights for a number of years.

The Caersws keeper was soon in action and with a bit of help from the woodwork - Alex Hunt hit the bar and Daniel Rocke a post - restricted the home team to just two scores.

In a neat build-up Tom Ammond crossed to Shaun Prince, he beat his man and drilled the ball into the back of the net for the first.

Prince was also involved in the second goal, playing Neil Lewis through, and he lashed the ball into the top corner to stretch the lead.

While naturally happy with the result and position in the table, the main talking point was how the final margin had only been two goals considering the number of efforts made on the Caersws goal.

It was a different problem for the Reserves - how to cope with former Presteigne player Willie Lindesay was their major task.

He ran the show and netted two of the goals as the home team eased themselves to a comfortable win in the Watson Associates Mid-Wales League South.
