County fun on Family Learning Weekend

From the archive, first published Thursday 2nd Oct 2003.

FAMILY Learning Weekend takes place from October 10-12 and to mark this national event, headed by the Campaign for Learning, there will be a range of activities across Herefordshire.

Sure Start Leominster and Kington will be holding two events in north Herefordshire for families with children under the age of four but families with older children are welcome, too!

"We shall be holding two events with a variety of fun activities for the family to enjoy and learn together," said Paula Daniels, the event organiser. "We have managed to secure funding from the Learning and Skills Council through Herefordshire Council to help run the days. You won't be able to miss the events as the Sure Start bus - the SS Explorer, will be parked outside each venue. Families can come along and take part in the workshops and quizzes on healthy lunch box ideas, seed gathering, different ways of communicating, crafts, healthy lifestyles and much more."

The first event is on October 10 at the Baptist Church in Etnam Street, Leominster, then on October 11 at Kington Youth Centre. Both events start at 10am and finish at 3pm and families can drop in at any time.
