BRIAN Johnson has been elected on to Bromyard Town Council following the resignation of Councillor Bernard Hunt and the disqualification of Councillor Bernard Haycock.
Mr Johnson topped a list of six candidates with 285 votes - well over twice the amount received by his nearest challenger, Gillian Churchill.
There was a 23.46 per cent turnout for the election out of a total electorate of 3,027.
A procedural problem had already meant that only one of the two seats available could be filled by election, while the other is likely to be co-opted.
The situation arose after one signature on the list of 10 calling for a contest was found to be unregistered.
Full results: Derek Alan Campbell 41, Gillian Beverley Ann Churchill 109, Alan Frederick Gates 76, Edward John Harris 91, Brian Russell Johnson 285, Gordon Weston 89.
